The publication, edited by CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism, is the result of an extensive investigation made with the support of Macau Foundation and CIAUD – Research Centre in Architecture, Urbanism and Design. The material used in the preparation of this work results from the participation in the team and work developed within the scope of the Urbanism Research Project, Os Planos de Urbanização nas Antigas Províncias Ultramarinas, 1934-1974, financed by the Foundation for Science and Technology (POCTI AUR/42710/2001), and carried out at the Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade Técnica de Lisboa with the coordination of Professor Maria Clara Mendes.
